Anyone ever said a stupidly big lie to get out of something relatively minor? I just had a case of the verbal diarrhoea because I was under pressure and just blurted out a huge fake sob story to get out of working overtime all weekend and now I have to maintain it. I feel really guilty and stupid, probably won't even enjoy my time off now, typical. . .

  • People who say no are often the ones who get promoted.. it's kind of like how the arsehole guys often get the girl. Doesn't always work but it's worth a try and better than lying..

  • It seems like you do not enjoy your job or working overtime. Overtime is never a given and they have to ask, you can say no to it. With my previous job (bla bla project consultant) I had a lot of stress from working overtime. Until i found out it isn't a given.. i can just say no. which i did more and more, until -they- had to give a good reason for me to work overtime not for me to think of one to stop. Eventually I got 200% pay and the extra hours as holiday time back.
