I have 2 work colleagues (bf and gf) that are impossible to work with. They`re highly unprofessional, they`re mean and they gossip a lot. As most of my work doesn`t involve direct interraction with them, I let them be, until she "forgot" to give me a paper that messed up pretty bad one of my cases (I`m a lawyer). The boss of my department never did anything about them and the tension they create because they`re family friends and spend holidays together, so I went over her head to the big boss which immediately took a stand. Now, the boss of my department is mad for making her look like she can`t handle her team. I don`t see how that`s my problem. She really can`t handle the team if she favours her friends even when several other people tell her we`ve got a problem...

  • Personally i would get a 1 on 1 chat with her and tell her your problems with the situation and with her failure towards providing you with the right support (the paper you needed). If it does not change, seek it higher up. Now I think you are just scared of confrontations with someone you dislike. Anyway, I had the same issue with a boss, and after a year of telling him and then the upper management (through him and then past him whilst informing him) nothing changed. So i resigned and started working somewhere else.

  • If there's a couple in a workforce the only sensible way to deal with, especially if they can't be professional at work, is have them on different teams.
