I'm Ukrainian and it offends me very much when people call my country, "The Ukraine". That is the name it was given by Russia when it was owned by the Soviet Union, and now we are a free country. It doesn't help that Russia is trying to take over for a second time, so I would appreciate if people would refer to us as an independent country. It's also grammatically incorrect to put "The" in front of our country's name, as that would mean there's more than one of us. For example THE United States, THE UK, THE United Emirate States... There are multiple groups within one organization, hence the word THE. However, Ukraine is it's own country now, just like Russia, Greece, France, Germany, or England. So please don't refer to us as "The Ukraine".
