I wish my granddaddy would accept that h shouldn't drive anymore. His driving isn't safe and I'm so scared he'll get in an accident. On the highway, where the speed limit and speed of most vehicles is 55 mph, he drives 30 or 35. Cops will pull you over for driving way too slow. It's dangerous. Cars won't expect you to be going so slow, they'll be going 55, and may not have time to stop or room to get over. And he looks at something off to the side, stares too long, and drifts off. If it wasn't for my mawmaw, he would've wrecked several times by now, including going off an overpass or into a creek. And now that he's been getting panic attacks, I'm scared he'll get one while he's driving. He used to drive all kinds of vehicles for a living, so I get why he's not wanting to give it up. I'd be devastated too if I had to stop driving. But his driving isn't safe. I'm just glad he hasn't tried taking the car out without someone with him yet. I'm scared that's the next step and we'll have to force his license away if that happens. I'm pretty sure the DMV can take it from him if we tell them about it, but it wouldn't be pretty. If his driving gets him pulled over one day, the cop might make him give it up. And there's nothing he can do about that, but he'd rant and fixate on that and a conspiracy theory about it for probably the rest of his days. But I'd gladly take that over him getting himself or someone else killed.
