I am a PhD candidate in diabetes research. My father recently died from cancer and I feel guilty every day for not having chosen to do cancer research instead.

  • Feeling guilty is part of any grieving process. I lost both my parents in a short period of time and trust me, guilt may appear in a form or another. What you are doing is precious, go on! In the future, your research may save the life of someone's father, mother or offspring. Go ahead, and God bless!

  • I feel your pain. I wanted to do cancer research when I was younger. But years ago I decided to study criminology instead because I felt uncomfortable in the science field. Last month, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. How'd you think I feel?
