My son decided to become a vegan. I told him I won't cook extra meals for him, so he has to make his own food and also has to buy the extra ingredients he would need. He is mad at me now, telling me what a bad mother I am. But he is 16 and I think I'm right with my opinion. Or am I really a bad mom?

  • I think he's trying to do something he thinks will help make him healthier and you're just dismissing him and leaving him to figure things out. While I don't think you should do it all for him, why don't you take him to the store with you and let him pick out what he wants, so he's deciding what to get, but you buy his food for him? Then teach him how to prepare it. Don't just send him off and say 'have fun figuring out how to feed yourself'. It's like that saying, Give a man a fish and he will eat that day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Also maybe explain to your son why you think veganism is not a good idea (for example, almost complete lack of protein).
